Lean cuts of beef

Lean meat is the new fad in American society with the issue of obesity. Beef is a great way to meet protein requirements and generally holds more flavor than chicken or other known lean meats. So here is what to look for when buying beef to keep that slim figure. Choose choice or select meat not prime which I will explain why in a later post. The leanest beef cuts are
  • Eye of round roast
  • Top round steak
  • Mock tender steak
  • Bottom round roast
  • Top sirloin steak
Lastly which I think many people do not realize that the recommended amount of meat a day is only 6oz. The fact that many restaurants offer 12oz rib eye and many other large portion that aids the obesity problem in America. Beef has gained a poor reputation of containing too much fat but in reality beef today is very lean and if buying quality beef fat is not an issue.
